Details

This advanced training provides a comprehensive approach to Early EMDR Interventions, RTEP (Recent Trauma Episode Protocol), and GTEP (Group Trauma Episode Protocol) for individuals, couples, families, and groups. These protocols are highly effective in integrating and reprocessing recent traumas as well as building resilience during ongoing traumatic events.

Both Protocols are easily adapted to Tele-behavioral Health, particularly in emphasizing containment and safety. Given the myriad of ways the COVID-19 pandemic created trauma individually and within communities throughout the world, these protocols are particularly useful and timely.

R-TEP is effective in: Non-recent trauma, Abuse, Grief and traumatic loss, Pet loss, Job loss, Young professionals presenting with anxiety, Domestic & workplace violence, Sexual violence survivors, Traumatic accidents, First responders, Divorce, Complex trauma, Health challenges such as COVID, cancer, cardiac, and other Reproductive related trauma, Depression and sleep disorders

Participants report applying G-TEP with the following issues and situations: Family affected by COVID, Divorce, Pet loss, Recent sexual trauma, Traumatic loss, Grief, Abuse, Anxiety, Licensure exam test anxiety, Workplace after injury, Complex Trauma/dissociation/high emotional dysregulation, Cardiac & other health crisis, Work stress, Child protection, TRN team, Healthcare and mental health practitioners

Course Description & Learning Objectives

Program Abstract/ Program Description

The EMDR Group Traumatic Episode Protocol (G-TEP) is a group application of the EMDR Recent-Traumatic Episode Protocol (R-TEP).

The Recent Traumatic Episode Protocol (R-TEP) is part of a comprehensive approach to Early EMDR Intervention (EEI). This workshop incorporates and extends existing protocols within a new conceptual framework, together with additional measures for containment and safety. Checking for sub-clinical sticking points which can obstruct Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) and don’t necessarily show up on the DSM radar, the R-TEP may reduce sensitization and accumulation of trauma memories.

Workshop participants learn how to apply EMDR for early intervention in emergent trauma situations, providing the practitioner with detailed information regarding the Recent Traumatic Episode Protocol and the Group Traumatic Episode Protocol. Participants will identify and apply key features, procedures, and concepts of both R-TEP and G-TEP as well as demonstrate their use through extensive practicum within the workshop setting. Participants will learn how to adapt both protocols for online tele-health formats.

Course Objectives

This course will provide the practitioner with detailed information regarding the Recent Traumatic Episode Protocol and the Group Traumatic Episode Protocol. Specifically, through lecture, discussion, video clips, and practicum experiences, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify at least one circumstance when Early EMDR Intervention is appropriate.

  2. Identify at least three Early EMDR clinical skills.
  3. Demonstrate the ability to apply the R-TEP in clinical practice.
  4. Apply additional measures for containment and safety within R-TEP*
  5. Recall at least three key features and concepts of Recent Traumatic Episode Protocol (R-TEP).
  6. Recall at least three key features and concepts of the Group Traumatic Episode Protocol (G-TEP).
  7. Identify at least one procedure of G-TEP.
  8. Differentiate between R-TEP and G-TEP concepts and procedures.
  9. Demonstrate the ability to apply the G-TEP in clinical practice.
  10. Explain the significance of the G-TEP and Early EMDR Intervention.
  11. Demonstrate both protocols with modifications within the tele-health platforms.
