Program Abstract/ Program Description
Therapists are often unaware of the errors they are committing while using EMDR therapy, and these errors prevent clinicians from being fully effective in the use of EMDR therapy as they work with clients. In this course, participants learn to identify and correct many common errors made by EMDR therapy clinicians. Common errors in each of the Eight Phases--Treatment Planning, the Three Prongs and in general practice--are reviewed in this course. Participants gain vital information about current EMDRIA guidelines for effective practice and extra guidance on how to apply in various settings. An extra hour is devoted to considerations of tele-psychology, working with minors, HIPAA compliance, professional development, cultural variables and issues in the understanding and use of the AIP model, blocked processing, and cognitive interweaves round out the course. This workshop is delivered in a humorous and engaging style with multiple case examples by two veterans of EMDR therapy and expert trainers—Dr. Michelle Gottlieb and Dr. Deborah Silveria.
