Course Reviews

“Very helpful and informative materials presented. I will be utilizing skills and techniques taught immediately. ”

“Loved this training. Very helpful to my current practice in several ways.”

“Dynamic presenter. Great and applicable strategies.”

“Very good trainer and training. User friendly platform”

“Excellent speaker and presentation. Very informative and interesting content.”

“It was so good! I work in collegiate athletics and am almost certified in EMDR. I was hoping to find an EMDR workshop on performance and I did! Thank you so much!”

“One of the best trainings since initial EMDR training. As I begin to implement performance enhancement into my private practice, I learned so much that I have not implemented into my practice that would be a great benefit. Understanding heart rate variability and some of the skills taught has equipped my tool box to another level.”

“To be fair, some of this was obvious to me. However, I absolutely love the introduction to heart mapping / HRV. Because of this training, I started using it and my clients love. I agree with the presenter that at the end of the day I feel way more energized after practicing heart mapping. I also feel this presentation was empowering to EMDR practitioners, get out there and safely be creative. Lastly, I kept thinking of the body keeps score. So cool how presenter touched on storing audio trauma, trauma can be stored in so many different ways. All in all I am giving it a 5. Thank You!”

“An amazing training, chock full of relevant information. I've been working with performers using EMDR since 2008 and I still learned some really great stuff. HRV training up next!!”

“Thank you so much! Very helpful and informative training!”

“The course normalized many of my experiences, which is quite important for new or returning EMDR practitioners. The training informed me of key new material while solidifying established knowledge. Thank you.”

“Great training! I loved this training professionally and personally. I can't wait to work with performers now. I find that it is also motivating me in my own workout routine. Can't wait to do Sara's next training.”

Course Description & Learning Objectives

Program Description

This advanced OnDemand course is an in-depth training connected to Sara Gilman's OnDemand advanced EMDR training course focusing on helping athletes and other performers improve their peak performance, return from set-backs or injuries and clear-up blocks or yips that interferes with optimal performance.

This training brings together top EMDR clinicians from around the country to share how they work with this population from case conceptualization, to specific interventions depending on the unique situations that performers present.

Participants will build their skills in utilizing the basic EMDR protocol and early EMDR intervention protocols, with other modalities, in the office and in the performers competitive arena. Demonstrations will be shown of how EMDR is integrated with HeartMath Tools, Guided Imagery and Self-regulating skills. The afternoon practicum will allow participants to practice how to introduce these modalities and in what situations they can be used. Topics include working with young athletes, using an "intensive model," addressing underlying diagnosis, interactions with Coaches and parents, defining  performance success and failure and how to manage both, utilizing assessment tools and how to create a business of performance counseling.

Abstract

Several studies show that using EMDR with performers can decrease anxiety, shift negative views and desensitize memories of upsetting events, resulting in improved performance (Foster, S. & Lendl, J., 1996; Bennett, J., Bickley, J., Vernon, T., et al., 2017). This course is the extended and in-depth version of an advanced EMDR training course that focuses on helping athletes and other performers improve their peak performance, return from set-backs or injuries, and clear-up blocks or yips that interfere with optimal performance. This training brings together top EMDR clinicians from around the country to share how they work with this population from case conceptualization, to specific interventions depending on the unique situations that performers present. Participants will build on their skills in utilizing the basic EMDR protocol and early EMDR intervention protocols, with other modalities, in the office and in the performers competitive arena. Demonstrations will be shown of how EMDR is integrated with HeartMath Tools, Guided Imagery and Self-regulating skills. Videos of practice allow participants to practice how to introduce these modalities and in what situations they can be used. Topics include working with young athletes, using an ‘intensive model’, addressing underlying diagnosis, interactions with Coaches and parents, defining performance success and failure and how to manage both, utilizing assessment tools and how to create a business of performance counseling
