Program Abstract/ Program Description
This advanced course explores how to harness the skills and concepts of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to enhance EMDR practice. Discusses Cognitive Behavioral theory as a way to bring new insights to the AIP model. Implements effective CBT techniques into each of the eight phases.
Course Abstract:
This training helps EMDR practitioners improve their practice by translating the language and techniques found in cognitive behavioral therapy. CBT is frequently taught in graduate schools, internships, and clinical settings, meaning that many clinicians have at least a passing familiarity with this model. Reviewing overlaps and differences between the models helps bridge providers from practicing good CBT to good EMDR Therapy.
By the end of this training, attendees will be able to leverage their knowledge of cognitive behavioral theory to enhance their skills in the AIP model. Participants will be able to describe how CBT as an approach fits alongside EMDR Therapy. Finally, practitioners will enhance their EMDR mastery by utilizing and translating CBT skills and concepts.
