Thursday, July 24th, 2025
presented by Mary E. Eason, PhD
Dr. Mary E. Eason, Ph.D., is a licensed psychologist in private practice in Fullerton, California. Dr. Eason brings over 30 years of experience working with children, teens, and adults who struggle to manage psychotic experiences.
From working with individuals in intensive out-patient service to involuntarily hospitalized individuals in locked settings to adjudicated criminally insane individuals conditionally released from Patton State Hospital, Dr. Eason sheds both light and wisdom on how to manage psychosis in a private practice setting. In her private practice, Dr. Eason works to stabilize her clients’ serious mental health symptoms using EMDR therapy to address their traumatic experiences. Dr. Eason is an EMDR Certified Therapist, EMDRIA Approved Consultant, and a Facilitator with EMDR Professional Training.

Program Abstract/ Program Description
Recent research has challenged the longstanding belief that EMDR therapy is ineffective or potentially harmful for individuals experiencing both PTSD and psychosis. Emerging evidence now supports the use of EMDR therapy in this population, demonstrating its potential to reduce trauma-related distress and improve overall functioning.
Unveiling Psychosis: EMDR Therapy for Trauma and Healing is an advanced training exploring current research on the effective application of EMDR therapy in treating psychosis, highlighting interventions that help minimize the impact of trauma in individuals with psychotic symptoms. Training will focus on the EMDR Therapy 8-Phase Standard Protocol and how/when it can be adapted to working with clients with psychosis.
